Responsibilities:
Vice Presidents attend the annual meeting of the Executive Board held in October or November. The Board currently meets at the biennial conference of the American Council of Quebec Studies (ACQS), and via Zoom during alternative years.
Each Vice President installs any new chapters in her/his region. Chapter installations are currently conducted via Zoom. When planning for a chapter installation, the host school is asked to accommodate the teaching schedule of the installing officer.
Vice Presidents are expected to help expand the Society by contacting annually, as their schedules permit, a few schools in their region that do not have chapters of Pi Delta Phi. The Board provides lists of non-Society schools and sample letters of invitation. Nearly all of the Society's new chapters stem from VP recruitment efforts.
Benefits: For the annual meeting of the Executive Board during the ACQS conference, Pi Delta Phi covers transportation costs, two nights of lodging at the conference hotel, a Board meeting luncheon or dinner, and a two-day per diem. Vice Presidents may also elect to give a paper or chair a session during the conference and thus avoid using their home institution's faculty conference funds. While PDP covers the required ACQS association fee (unless the VP is already a member), board members who wish to attend or to participate in conference sessions are expected to pay their own conference registration fees.
To Apply: Interested applicants should send PDF versions of (1) a brief letter of interest (in English) and (2) a copy of their CV--short form if the CV is particularly long--to: info@pideltaphi.org
Application Deadline: April 15, 2023
Current faculty members of the East and West regions will vote online. For all questions, please contact the National President, Dr. Scott Fish (info@pideltaphi.org).
